Someone close to me recently decided to stop working on the business idea they'd been pursuing. They’d got pretty far with it... had been working on it for most of the year... but decided it wasn’t for them. They didn’t enjoy it anymore - it was only causing stress and angst.
When they told me their decision, they sounded so relieved. I was happy they’d made the best decision for them. And then they said, “Ah... I guess I’m not one of your Five Percent people now. I’m not running my own business anymore.” To which I replied: “Hell NO! Quite the opposite, actually.” Because you don’t have to be running a business to be in The Five Percent. You don’t have to be an entrepreneur, or want to run your own company, or be on stage in front of thousands of people. It’s not about that. It’s about taking action on the things you want to do:
It can take years! There’s no deadline :) Being one of the “Five Percent” (in this case) just means not being one of the people who talk about the things they’d like to do... but never do them. Never start. Never try anything. Tell themselves it’s too difficult. (But then moan that life is dull, or other people have it easier than them, or it’s not “fair”.) Being a Five Percenter is about saying: “Hmm, I’ve always wanted to travel. I think I’ll look into house swapping... or taking a mini break with my friend... or setting aside $100 a month for a trip next year.”
So don’t worry if you’re not famous, or raking in millions, or living your “best life” (which, by the way, I don’t think even exists)... Instead:
Then you’re in The Five Percent. Welcome to the club! It’s great to have you here ;) Claire ❤ PS - Leave a comment below... or check out a picture of a snuggly bunny :)
