A message of encouragement... Today I want to remind you of something very important. I want to point out how amazingly we’re all doing!
See, I’ve been thinking about all the people I know in super tough situations:
And that’s not even considering all the emergency workers, grocery store employees, driving/delivery staff and others who are doing fantastic work right now! So today’s note is just to say: You. Are. Doing. Amazingly! We’re all doing amazingly! I know there are ups and down (I feel like I’m on an emotional rollercoaster!) But when I look back over lockdown so far, I think: “Wow. We’re doing this! We’re surviving. We’re making it through.” And that’s really cool. You should be proud of yourself. So stop, and take it in. Survival is awesome... and it’s enough right now. You don’t have to be super productive, learning five languages, or cooking exquisite meals every night. Don’t overlook the things you ARE doing. The efforts you’re making to stay strong... or keep your kids entertained... or keep in touch with isolated family members. I’m keeping my kid alive; I haven’t killed my husband yet; I’m running my business; and we’re carrying on with our daily activities as best we can... I’d say that’s pretty good work! ;) So huge high fives to you for keeping going. For getting through each bizarre day. For picking yourself back up when you have a really tough day. My plea for you today... Stop for a minute and acknowledge your success. You might be eating or drinking more, or working out less (or not at all) - but now’s not about being the “best you”. It’s about courage, and patience, and learning to live with the unknown. And these are skills that will serve us well for the rest of our life. So, fellow warrior: ONWARDS! We can do this :) Claire ❤

THANK YOU for reminding me that I’m doing well, and that surviving at this point is enough. THANK YOU for NOT being the 50th person to tell me to meditate and be positive. Or to learn a fifth language. I believe in the power of both meditation and being positive, but I also know the value of siting with sadness and grief and feeling hopeless. Nothing lasts forever.

Hey Gabrielle. Thank you for your comment - I'm so glad the post landed for you! Lol about all the messages to meditate and be positive. It's a great idea in theory... but many people need easy, practical and realistic ideas right now! I'm so with you - I, too, believe in the power of meditation and being positive, but there's a time and a place for everything. And like you say, there's also value in feeling sadness or grief, or whatever it is. Good for you for not running from those tougher feelings! So true - everything is temporary. Including this. A very wise message!
