As I mentioned last week, I don't have a ton of time to myself right now. I have a toddler, and my business, and we've just moved house - and I'm still looking for random things that disappeared in the move... :) So here's what I've been doing...
Recently I've been getting up earlier than my husband and son, and taking time to chill out and drink coffee. I sit on the balcony, or in the living room, and stare out the window. I think about life. I think about nothing :) Sometimes I get work done, or message friends. Other times I make Lists and Plans (one of my favourite things to do, ever! :) What I've learned from this... The thing is, no matter what kind of day I have, this is always my time. Time for me to do what I want. I don't respond to emails, or tidy up. I don't think about the million and one things I have/want to do - that's what my lists are for. Because how you start your day - or the time you take for yourself - is super important. I know I always have this time, for me. Not a morning person? That's totally fine! I found it so hard to get up early before I had my son. But maybe there's another time during the day that works for you. A time you can set aside your stresses and other people's demands. A moment to hit "pause", and take a few minutes to just breathe. (Try taking a few deep breaths right now. It feels so good! :) One last thing... If I didn't have this time for myself, I might go crazy! It's so easy to put ourselves last, what with work... and family... and tasks... and deadlines... But if you put yourself first, you have more "you" for all those things. (You can't pour from an empty vessel, as they say!) No one is going to carve out time for you. We have to take it for ourselves. I can hear my son awake now. This is the end of my time... until tomorrow! And yet, I feel peaceful. Wishing you much of the same :) Claire ❤
