For Craig...

*TRIGGER ALERT*

Today I'm sharing a sad story.
Last week, a friend of mine killed himself.

It feels weird even saying it.

He was hugely talented, and kind, and funny... but had been struggling with a severe bout of depression.

So today I want to reach out and remind everyone that:

  • You are loved, so much more than you know. I promise.

  • It’s not weak to accept help. It’s never weak to accept help.

  • Depression is a nasty, nasty illness because it lies. It tells you horrible things, all of which are untrue. (“You’re crap at this; no one cares about you; things will never change...”) With support, and help, and medication if you need it, there IS a way out.

  • Sharing is not shameful.

  • If you’re feeling down, please talk to someone. Anyone. There are crisis lines set up specifically for people in need. Don’t be afraid to call.

  • We all contribute something to the world. Even if you don’t think you do.

For anyone who has lost someone to suicide, my heart goes out to you.

Please remind yourself of this truth every day: You are needed in the world.

(Yes, you.)

Keep shining your light, the way only YOU can.

We only have one of you, which makes you pretty fucking special.

Mmmkay?

With love, and gratitude,

Claire

PS - RIP, Craig Kulyk. I miss you, my friend.

❤
